A knight to remember on your Malta holidays
A spectacular show featuring live battles between armour-clad knights could be the highlight of upcoming Malta holidays.
To be performed every Thursday evening in July, The Knights of Malta 1565 - The Show will delight lovers of history, romance, action and music.
It depicts the Knights of St John, battling the oriental warriors of Suleiman the Magnificent to defend their land during an epic siege in the mid-16th century.
Thrilling battlefield scenes, sumptuous costumes, exotic dancing and state-of-the-art light and sound effects will be used to tell the story of chivalry and true love against the backdrop of the siege.
The two-hour show will be held at the Powerhouse Theatre at the Valletta Waterfront, which is housed in a converted historical building constructed by the Knights of St John.
More than 50 professional performers, ten trained horses and a falcon called Maria will entertain both people on Malta holidays and locals who have come to enjoy the spectacle.
Another historical re-enactment that may be of interest to those on holidays in Malta is the in guardia parade, in which the grand bailiff of the order of the Knights of St John inspects a fort and garrison to make sure it is in good order.
The show lasts about 40 minutes.
